To promote cultural tourism, the Ministry of Culture (MOC) will participate in the upcoming Taipei International Travel Fair (ITF) to present 10 TV-drama- and movie-themed tour routes, showcasing the culture of Taiwan through various filming locations and cultural attractions.

The recommended tour routes involve 10 iconic dramas/films, including Hakka drama “Gold Leaf (茶金),” baseball movie “KANO,” historical drama “Seqalu: Formosa 1867 (斯卡羅),” comedy film “Zone Pro Site (總舖師),” feature film “Panay (太陽的孩子),” Ang Lee’s film “Eat Drink Man Woman (飲食男女),” movie “Secret (不能說的秘密),” animation “Grandma and Her Ghosts (魔法阿媽),” romantic comedy film “My Missing Valentine (消失的情人節),” and TV series “Someday or One Day (想見你).”

These routes aim to present Taiwan’s world-famous tea culture; history of forestry in Chiayi; historical heritage of different ethnic groups on the island; unique culture of Taiwanese roadside banquets; Hualien’s indigenous culture; stories of military dependents’ villages; the adventure of Canadian missionary George Leslie Mackay in Tamsui; the rituals of Keelung’s Ghost Festival; the landscape of salt fields in southern Taiwan; and the ancient capital’s ambience in Tainan.

The MOC noted that by combining dramas/movies with cultural tours, visitors can not only revisit drama and movie filming locations, but also get a better understanding of the stories behind these attractions.

This year’s ITF Taipei is set to take place at the Nangang Exhibition Hall from Nov. 1 to Nov. 4.
