Central Police University (CPU) kicked off the academic year with its flagship Heritage Night event on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024. The event took place in the university auditorium and welcomed the 113th freshman class to the CPU community. This year's theme, "Heroic Police Pursuer—The Soul-Stirring Heart of Police," highlighted the university's commitment to developing dedicated law enforcement professionals. The event was organized by the Department of Student Affairs in collaboration with the Student Corps and the 48th Student Association.

The event's story revolved around a streamer-controlled game character who overcame various obstacles and challenges with unwavering determination to achieve victory. Throughout the program, there were dynamic martial arts demonstrations that included judo, wrestling, and taekwondo. These performances, along with captivating stage shows, musical numbers, and lively interactions between the hosts and the audience, drew enthusiastic applause and laughter. Beyond their entertainment value, these segments offered new students a deeper understanding of the dedication and resilience required of public safety officers.

Additionally, a retrospective video showcased the training of new students from the three teams during their preparatory education. This allowed everyone to witness the growth and transformation of these students. It inspired confidence that they will courageously strive toward their goal of becoming competent law enforcement officers in the future.

During the event, CPU President Yuan-ming Yang emphasized that Heritage Night is an excellent tradition that fosters a sense of belonging and cohesion among faculty and students. The "Passing on the Lights" activity, where the president passed candlelight to new students, symbolized the transmission of beliefs and the passing of the flame. He encouraged everyone to become well-rounded public safety officers, skilled in both knowledge and martial arts, who will illuminate society.
