To encourage outstanding pet business operators, the Taipei City Animal Protection Office collaborated with the Taipei Pet Industry Association to host the 2024 "Outstanding Pet Business Awards Ceremony" on November 20. This year, 43 businesses in Taipei received top-tier ratings, while 69 were rated as Grade A. An impressive 80% of businesses achieved excellent ratings, providing the public with reliable references when purchasing pets or seeking pet hotel services.

The Taipei City Animal Protection Office stated that this year’s evaluation of specific pet businesses in Taipei was conducted by a committee of seven members, including representatives from animal protection groups, experts, scholars, industry representatives, and impartial public figures. From September to October, the committee visited business sites to assess facilities for pet care or exhibition, pet welfare practices, compliance with animal protection policies, and consumer protection measures. This year saw a record 140 businesses participating in the evaluation, the highest number to date.   Taipei's specific pet businesses excel in areas such as pet care facilities, service quality, cleanliness, and management. This year’s evaluation awarded 43 businesses (30.7%) top-tier ratings, with an additional 69 earning Grade A, bringing the total number of excellent establishments to 112. The Animal Protection Office also stated that 6 businesses rated as Grade C for poor performance have been given a deadline to make improvements and will undergo a follow-up review to ensure the protection of animal welfare and consumer rights.

The Animal Protection Office further noted that pet businesses are steadily enhancing their pet care practices and paying more attention to consumer rights. The impressive evaluation results highlight the industry's dedication, leading to more comprehensive pet services for Taipei’s pet owners.
