Taipei, Feb. 9 (CNA) President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) has named current Tourism Administration deputy head Lin Hsin-jen (林信任) as Taiwan's new deputy representative to Indonesia.

The appointment was announced by the Presidential Office in a Presidential Order released on Saturday.

However, the order did not say when Lin will take up his new post in Jakarta.

A diplomatic source told CNA Sunday that the appointment seeks to take advantage of Lin's multi-domain integration capabilities, as he has more than a decade of experience in tourism promotion and marketing that will help Taiwan explore the emerging Muslim market in Indonesia.

Lin, who has been the then-Tourism Bureau deputy chief since 2020, began his public sector service in 1990 as a specialist in the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Statistics Division.

He later changed his career path in 2005 as a section head in the International Affairs Division of the Tourism Bureau, under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.

Lin's overseas postings include the Tourism Bureau's Los Angeles and Singapore offices.
