Bangkok, May 21 (CNA) Liu Tsu-yuan of Taiwan fought through pain to win boys' decathlon title Sunday at the Asian Youth Athletics Championships in Bangkok.

Having sustained an ankle injury during a high jump challenge the previous day, Liu showed tremendous willpower to complete the game, nabbing the gold with 5,982 points.

The silver medal went to India's Mohit, who scored 5,976 points.

Liu has conquered quite a number of obstacles before coming to the final event -- the 1,500-meter run, including breaking of his pole in the pole vault challenge earlier Sunday.

Liu's injury worsened when he competed in the 1,500-meter run, but he did not give up and made it to the finish line.

Taiwan has so far won five golds in the May 20-23 game, the others being the boys' shot put, 110 meter hurdles, as well as girls' 5,000-meter walk and 100-meter hurdles.
