President Tsai tweets condolences to victims of Manchester attack

Taipei, May 24 (CNA) Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen sent her condolences Wednesday to the victims of the explosion at a concert in the United Kingdom on Monday night.

"On behalf of the people of Taiwan, we send condolences and sympathies to all the victims of (the) horrific attack in Manchester," Tsai wrote in a Twitter message.

Presidential Office Secretary-General Joseph Wu also met with the U.K.'s representative to Taiwan, Catherine Nettleton, on Wednesday and expressed the condolences of the president and Taiwan's people to the victims of the attack and the British people, according to a statement issued by the Presidential Office.

At least 22 people were killed and 59 injured when a bomb exploded after a concert by American pop star Ariana Grande at the Manchester Arena on Monday night. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack.
