Taipei, June 5 (CNA) A train painted with images of Taiwan began operation in Japan's Kansai region on Monday, hoping to promote travel in Taiwan.
The "Meet Colors!" painted train, which will run 10 times a day between Osaka and Himeji for a period of one year, was the result of a collaboration between Taiwan's Tourism Bureau and Japan's Sanyo Electric Railway Co.
Images of Taiwan's food, shopping and other attractions will be painted on both the exteriors and interiors of the train's carriages to introduce Taiwan to Japanese passengers, the Tourism Bureau said.
The train will operate along the Hanshin-Sanyo Through Limited Express line and pass through such busy stations as Kobe, Sannomiya, Koshien and Hanshin-Umeda, and around 800,000 passengers are expected to ride on it during the year, the bureau said.
