Kaohsiung expected to host 44 cruise liners in 2017

Kaohsiung, June 10 (CNA) Forty-four cruise liners with a total of 120,000 passengers are expected to dock in Kaohsiung this year, bringing in a projected NT$750 million in tourism revenue to the port city, an official said on Saturday.

Kaohsiung will seek to host more cruise liners next year to boost tourism and consumption in the city, said Tseng Tzu-wen, chief of Kaohsiung's Tourism Bureau, in a forum held by the International Cruise Council Taiwan.

Eying the growing global cruise tourism market, the Cabinet has set the objective of attracting 600 cruise liner visits and over 1 million passengers to Taiwan this year, thereby adding NT$5 billion to the country's tourism revenue.
