Taiwan bags gold in recurve women's team event at Archery World Cup

Taipei, June 11 (CNA) Taiwanese archers walked away with a gold medal after beating their Japanese opponents in the recurve women's team final in the second stage of the 2017 Archery World Cup in Antalya, Turkey, on Sunday.

The team, which comprised Tan Ya-ting, Peng Chia-mao and Le Chien-ying, managed to snag all three sets in the best of four against the Japanese, scoring 52-50, 53-52 and 55-51. With two points per win the final score was 6-0.

In addition to team events, Taiwan's Lin Shih-chia is up against Ksenia Perova from Russia in the recurve women's final later in the evening.

Lin, who beat Taiwanese teammate Le in the semifinal of the recurve women's singles event, has an opportunity to take Taiwan's first ever individual women's gold medal on the Archery World Cup circuit, according to event organizers.

Le will now faces Colombian Ana Maria Rendon for a bronze medal later in the day.

The Archery World Cup is a circuit of five outdoor events that that take place in Shanghai, Antalya, Salt Lake City, Berlin and Rome. By Ko Lin)
