Taipei, June 11 (CNA) Classmates and teachers of young photographer Chen Kuan-chi, who worked as an assistant to filmmaker Chi Po-li), posted remembrance notes, pictures and clips on social media on Sunday, following a helicopter crash in Hualien County that killed both men and their pilot the previous day.

Chen, 25, a graduate from the Department of English at National Dong Hwa University in Hualien County, was an enthusiastic participant in social and political affairs including the anti-nuclear, student and gender equality movements.

One of Chen's short clips, titled "In 2013, how have you been?" which included pictures and clips of various protests and movements during that year, is being circulated online.

Another of Chen's work is a 13-minute interview of participants in the Sunflower Movement, a protest movement that occupied the Legislature in Taipei from March 18 to April 10 in 2014, to stop ratification of a trade agreement with Beijing.

"We are proud of you, Kuan-chi," said the department on its Facebook page.

The Bell-206 chopper was flown by pilot Chang Chih-kuang, from Taitung County's Chishang Township at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday and crashed at about noon close to the mouth of Xiuguluan River in Hualien County, said Emerald Pacific Airlines, a Taichung-based helicopter service provider.

Chang, a 53-year-old retired Navy pilot, worked for the company for 11 years and had about 5,500 flying hours, according to the firm.
