Taipei, June 12 (CNA) Foreign Minister David Lee honored Dominican Senate President Reinaldo Pared Perez in a ceremony in Taipei on Monday.

Lee conferred the Order of Brilliant Star with Special Grand Cordon on the Dominican Senate president in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of relations between the two countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lee thanked the Dominican Senate for its firm support for Taiwan's bid to join international organizations, such as the International Civil Aviation Organization, the World Health Assembly and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The Order of Brilliant Star with Special Grand Cordon is the top rank of the nine-rank civilian order of the Republic of China (Taiwan) granted to nationals and foreign nationals who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the nation.

Heading a seven-member parliamentary delegation, Pared Perez arrived in Taiwan on Sunday for a six-day visit that is aimed at further promoting bilateral ties.
