Taipei, June 15 (CNA) A Taiwanese delegation will visit three African countries later this month in an effort to promote trade between the two sides, amid shrinking bilateral trade, according to members of the delegation.

Lin Bo-feng, chairman of the Taipei-based Chinese National Association of Industry and Commerce, will serve as honorary head of the 30-member delegation to Swaziland, South Africa and Mozambique on a visit from June 18-28, the association said.

The delegation, which is organized by the Taipei-based Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association, the Taiwan Glass Industry Association, the Taiwan-Africa Business Association and the Africa Taiwan Economic Forum, is aimed at promoting bilateral investment and economic exchanges between Taiwan and the African countries, it said.

The main mission of the delegation is to learn more about the local investment environment in the glass industry and explore potential business opportunities, the association said.

Citing government statistics, the Chinese National Association of Industry and Commerce said that trade volume between Taiwan and Africa fell from US$12.552 billion in 2013 to US$4.952 billion in 2016.
