The 22nd Semi-Annual General Meeting of the Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Latin America (TCCLA) was held June 9-11 in Buenos Aries, Argentina. Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) Minister Wu Hsin-hsing and Legislator Chiu Chih-wei traveled all the way from Taiwan to attend this event alongside around 300 representatives from the region.

At the opening ceremony on June 10, Wu pointed out that, since May 20 last year, President Tsai has visited Taiwan’s allies in Latin America on two occasions, profoundly appreciating the support, loyalty and love of Taiwanese business people and overseas compatriots in the region towards their country.

He said that, in the past decades, Taiwanese business people have bravely explored into the world and worked hard to build their business in places as far away as Latin America. While doing this, Wu continued his praise, they have also found the time and energy to support their homeland, Taiwan, i.e. the ROC. This year, the OCAC plans to dispatch a National Day Goodwill Mission to perform across Latin America, with the aim of letting compatriots in the region feel the warmth from the government of Taiwan. Over the next year, various events for compatriots and Taiwanese business people will also be held to allow them to come back to Taiwan for training and visits. Although Latin America is far away from Taiwan, all the compatriots there are like pearls and each one is precious.
