Taipei, June 21 (CNA) President Tsai Ing-wen in a tweet on Wednesday praised the Taiwanese food suppliers who won the 2017 Superior Taste Award for food products.
The award, presented by the Brussels-based International Taste and Quality Institute (iTQi), was given to 106 food and beverage products from Taiwan, 34 of which gained the top three-star rating for "exceptional products" that scored 90 or higher on a scale of 0-100.
This made Taiwan a big winner among the 83 countries that participated, an achievement that Tsai described in her tweet as remarkable.
The institute, the world's leading organization dedicated to testing and promoting superior food and drink products, selects judges from the 15 most prestigious European culinary and sommelier associations to test hundreds of entries from all over the world, and awards are presented based on quality.
Meanwhile, Tsai also tweeted about Honduran Vice President Ricardo Alvarez Arias' current visit to Taiwan. In her tweet, Tsai said she hoped Taiwan and Honduras could advance cooperation and trade under their bilateral free trade agreement.
