Taipei, June 24 (CNA) Taiwan's Eve Ai was declared the Best Female Vocalist--Mandarin for her album "Talk About Eve" at the 28th Golden Melody Awards in Taipei Saturday.
In her acceptance speech, Ai compared herself to "a pool of water," saying she has traveled around the world with the ocean current, and is grateful that people in her life were still willing to embrace her after her return.
"I will urge myself to be faster and braver," she said.
It was the first time that Ai was nominated for Best Female Vocalist--Mandarin. "Talk About Eve" entered the competition with seven nominations and picked up one award.
The 30-year-old singer began her music career in 2011 after winning the talent show "Super Idol," where she was dubbed by a judge as "Taiwan's Adele." "Talk About Eve" is her third studio album.
Ai was competing against Taiwan's Jia Jia ("Still Missing"), Waa Wei ("Run! Frantic Flowers!"), and Naiwen Yang ("Centrifugal Force"), Taiwanese-American rapper Miss Ko and Hong Kong-Canadian singer-songwriter Ellen Joyce Loo.
