Taipei, June 27 (CNA) Qatar has recently decided to grant landing visa privileges to Taiwanese passport holders who visit the Gulf country for tourism, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday.

The move allows Taiwanese passport holders to visit Qatar and stay there for up to 30 days with a landing visa, the ministry said.

The new measure came after Taiwan began granting e-visas to Qatar citizens last October, the ministry said, adding that these reciprocal initiatives are expected to help promote bilateral exchanges in trade, tourism and culture.

Taiwanese passport holders are required to have a passport valid for at least six months, a return or transfer flight ticket, accommodation booking records and a financial statement when applying for a landing visa upon arrival in Qatar, the ministry said.

The fee for the landing visa is about US$30, it added.

Taiwanese passport holders currently enjoy visa-free entry, landing visas or e-visas for more than 160 countries and territories.
