Taipei, June 28 (CNA) The 2017 Da'an Sand Sculpture and Music Festival will be held from July 1 to August 6 at Da'an Coastal Park in Taichung's Qingshui District, Taichung officials said on Wednesday.
Taiwanese pop band The Last Day of Summer and other popular singers will perform on the first day of the festival.
One of the five themes adopted for the sand sculptures is flowers, as the 2018 World Flora Exposition will be held in the City, Chen Sheng-shan, director-general of Taichung Tourism and Travel Bureau said on Wednesday.
He added that the festival will feature 22 sand sculptures by Japanese, South Korean and Malaysian artists, and Taiwanese artist Chen Kun-tien. A further 10 more works will be included after the completion of a sand sculpture competition open to all-comers from July 8-9.
On each weekend during the festival a number of activities will be organized for visitors. These include a volleyball competition, musical performance and a singing contest.
