Taipei, July 4 (CNA) After the suspension of service on the Alishan Forest Railway on Tuesday following a rockfall, trains are scheduled to run normally on Wednesday, the railway administration said.
A train carrying 140 passengers stopped after the conductor saw rocks and soil on the line at the 19.35 km mark between Zhuqi and Zhangnaoliao at about 3:25 p.m. The rockfall was caused by 65 mm of rainfall between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The train backed up to a nearby road intersection, where all 140 passengers were transported to safe locations by bus, the railway administration said.
The debris was cleared from the track at 6:30 p.m., so train services will return to normal the following day, it said.
