Taipei, July 9 (CNA) Yang Chun-han of Taiwan earned a gold medal after finishing the men's 200-meter final with 20.66 seconds at the Asian Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar, India Sunday.
During the event's semifinal, Yang ranked 7th. But in the final, he managed to race ahead of all rivals to win the Taiwan team's first ever gold in the championships' short-distance races.
Earlier, Yang clocked 10.31 second to win a bronze in the 100-meter dash -- the first medal by a Chinese Taipei athlete in this event in 30 years.
His compatriot Chen Chieh won a silver medal with 49.75 seconds in the men's 400-meter hurdles.
A total of 800 athletes from 45 countries participated in the championships July 6-9.
