Taipei, July 10 (CNA) Taipei Main Station is to "get smart" and the public will be offered clear guidance without having to feel like they are stepping into a labyrinth, according to a cooperation deal announced Monday between the Taipei City government and AsusTek Computer Inc.

Taipei Main Station accommodates Taiwan Railway and Taiwan High Speed Rail, as well as the Taipei Metro. This, coupled with the recent addition of the Airport MRT line to Taoyuan, has made some visitors confused and has given rise to complaints that it is like a "big labyrinth."

It's common for people to lose their way in the maze-like station.

It is hoped that the cooperation deal with AsusTek will improve the situation.

Under the deal, public information and underground street electronic bulletin board information will be completed in August, indoor app guidance and a "smart" parking lot will be completed in September, and there will be continued expansion of app software in November.

Jonney Shih, chairman of Asus, said he hopes the complaints about the station as a big maze will not come up again.

He said that making the station smart will not only be able to show the nation's global competitiveness, but will also present a fresh look to foreign guests attending the Summer Universiade in August and the World Congress on Information Technology in September.
