Taipei, July 10 (CNA) President Tsai Ing-wen said on Monday that the government is determined to offer the necessary assistance to boost Taiwan's design capability, hoping the country's creative designs will become a strength which cannot be ignored on the world stage.

Attending the Design M/m Taiwan exhibition held in the Presidential Office, Tsai said that the government will continue its efforts to cultivate design talent for Taiwan since it has set a goal that design capability will improve the quality of life for people in the country.

In the exhibition, local designers showcased their imagination in creating a wide range of products such as wine cups, tableware, and even ice cream scoopers.

Tsai said that the government has always put its people on top of its agenda since they are the masters of the country and the masters of the Presidential Office. She said that through the design exhibition, the Presidential Office wanted to show visitors that Taiwan's design strength comes from the people.

Tsai said that the new generation of designers are able to find solutions to the problems of the public's day to day life through their works, and their designs are able to show they care about how to make things more convenient for consumers and that they are paying attention to the environment.

The President said that the exhibition is expected to allow the public to sense that the strength of design is changing Taiwan's society for the better and that the event will no doubt help the public have a better understanding of the value of design capability.

Tsai said that through the efforts in improving the country's design capability, Taiwan is able to push for an economic transformation and eventually give a boost to the local economy.

She expressed gratitude to the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs for organizing the expo. She said she was also grateful to the Taiwan Design Center, xXtraLab DESIGN and the designers who displayed their works for their participation in the exhibition.
