Local dance troupe to visit South and Southeast Asia

Taipei, July 11 (CNA) The Grand View Dance Troupe from National Taiwan University of Arts will tour India, Indonesia and Malaysia from July 22 to Aug. 5 to further the government's New Southbound Policy through cultural exchange.

Kuoboug Chang, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' (MOFA) Department of International Information Services, on Tuesday noted that all three countries possesses their own unique cultures and such programs seek to enhance understanding and deepen friendship through artistic exchange.

Taiwan's New Southbound Policy emphasizes two-way communication, Chang said at a press conference. He also expressed the hope that such a cultural exchange platform will allow the people of South and Southeast Asia to learn more about the diverse culture of Taiwan.

The ministry indicated it is working closely with representative offices in New Delhi, Chennai, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur to invite local dignitaries and people from all walks of life to attend the performances.
