Anti-drug operation carried out ahead of Summer Universiade

Taipei, July 15 (CNA) Police departments in the Greater Taipei area carried out a four-day anti-drug operation to maintain public order ahead of next month's Summer Universiade, with a total of 556 drug cases uncovered by the police.

Taipei City Police Department said the anti-drug operation was conducted from July 11 to 14 in cooperation with the New Taipei City Police Department and focused on searching hotels, pubs, nightclubs and KTVs.

A total of 599 venues were visited and searched and 611 suspects, including underage suspects, were questioned in the 566 cases detected.

Taipei police said that with the summer vacation having started, it hopes to expand the search area as it attempts to further crack down on drug dealers in cooperation with New Taipei police.
