Taipei, July 16 (CNA) Taiwanese-American NBA player Jeremy Lin arrived in Taiwan Sunday for an eight-day visit, during which he will teach at a basketball camp, attend sports brand promotional activities and play basketball with pop singer Jam Hsiao.

Lin, a point guard for the Brooklyn Nets, was warmly welcomed by hundreds of his enthusiastic fans at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. In Mandarin he told his fans how happy he was to be back in Taiwan.

"Hello everyone! I'm happy to be back in Taiwan, hoping to meet many fans. This time I will meet you in Taipei and Taichung," said Lin while being surrounded by reporters and fans.

Taiwan is the first stop of Lin's Asia tour, which will also take him to China. He will begin his visit here, from July 16 to 23, with a press conference in Taipei's Xinyi District later Sunday, followed by a basketball game with Hsiao in a court near the Taipei 101 at night.

Lin will remain in Taipei until Wednesday before traveling to the central Taiwan municipal city of Taichung. There, he will attend a basketball training camp at the National Taiwan University of Sport on July 20-21, and a seminar on July 22 to discuss his experience of becoming a NBA player.

On July 23 Lin will depart from Taiwan to Guangzhou, China to continue his Asian tour.
