London, July 15 (CNA) Taiwanese tennis player Chan Hao-ching and her Romanian partner Monica Niculescu were overwhelmed in the women's doubles final at Wimbledon on Saturday by their rivals Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina of Russia.

Chan and Niculescu lost 0-6, 0-6 to the second-seeded Russian pair in a match that lasted just 54 minutes.

After the match, Chan told CNA that she has not taken a good rest since the Mutua Madrid Open in May and was feeling a little tired.

Niculescu injured her stomach at the start of the game on Saturday, so she couldn't play to her full potential, Chan said, adding that their opponents on the contrary played exceedingly well.

Chan said she is satisfied with her performance at Wimbledon because she and her partner were able to make it to the final.

It was the first time for both Chan and Niculescu to play in a Grand Slam women's doubles final, and Chan said she and her partner were excited and complemented each other well on the court.

The 23-year-old Taiwanese player also thanked her Taiwan fans, who she said stayed up late into the night to cheer for her.
