Taipei, July 17 (CNA) Taiwan's Wen Tzu-yun won a gold medal on Sunday in the women's 55-kg category at the 2017 Asian Karate Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan, defeating Japan's Fumika Ishiai 3-2 in the final. Meanwhile, Taiwan won a silver in women's team event.
This is the second time Wen has won gold at the Asian Karate championships after clinching first place at the 2015 Championships in Yokohama, Japan.
Wen also won a gold medal at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea in 2014.
Last year, Wen won a bronze medal in the 55kg female kumite at the 23rd World Karatedo Championships.
She will next compete in the World Games 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland from July 20-30.
