Taipei, July 19 (CNA) Public support for President Tsai Ing-wen has rebounded following her recent success in reforming pension programs for civil servants, public school teachers and political appointees, according to a survey released on Wednesday.
In the survey, published by the Taiwan NextGen Foundation, 62.8 percent of respondents expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the reform, 68.1 percent believed the reform was positive for Taiwan's future and 61.9 percent saw it as a major achievement by the Tsai administration.
Overall, support for Tsai rose to 51.6 percent, up 4.9 points from the previous survey, while her satisfaction rating gained 8 points to reach 41.4 percent, the survey showed.
In addition, public satisfaction with Premier Lin Chuan increased 6 points to 34.7 percent, according to the survey.
Asked about the "forward-looking infrastructure development plan" introduced by Tsai's government, 61.5 percent of respondent said the plan was helpful to Taiwan's development and 59.3 percent expressed support for the plan, the survey revealed.
The survey was conducted from July 16-17, included 1,069 adults and had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.99 percentage points. 5(By Sophia Yeh and Y.F. Low)
