Taiwan Expo opens in Vietnam

Ho Chih Minh City, Vietnam, July 26 (CNA) Taiwan Expo 2017 opened on Wednesday in Ho Chih Minh City, southern Vietnam, as part of Taiwan's efforts to promote its products in the Southeast Asian country.

A total of 150 Taiwanese enterprises are showcasing a wide range of products at the three-day exhibition, which was organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), under the theme of green energy and intelligent living.

The displays include products and technologies in the area of environmental protection and energy saving, agriculture and fishery, medical equipment, machinery and intelligent living, according to TAITRA.

The opening ceremony was attended by Taiwan's Vice Economic Minister Wang Mei-hua, TAITRA Chairman James Huang and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) president Vu Tien Loc.

In response to reporters' questions at the opening, Wang said Taiwan's products have been well received in Vietnam and she hopes the two nations will further strengthen trade and economic cooperation.

She also said that the Taiwanese Businessmen Association in Vietnam and the VCCI had signed a memorandum of understanding the previous day to further promote bilateral cooperation and exchanges.

According to Wang, a forum on investment in Vietnam will be held in the southeastern country in October, with the participation of Vietnamese provincial government officials and Taiwanese businessmen.
