Taipei, July 27 (CNA) A hot air balloon festival scheduled to be held at 19 Hectares Grassland (also known as Qingqing Grassland) on Saturday and Sunday has been postponed one week, a Hsinchu City official said on Thursday.

The annual festival, which provides 550 free places on hot air balloons each of the two days, has been moved to Aug. 5-6, for safety reasons and the local government apologized for any inconvenience, said Huang Tsai-ti, director of Hsinchu City's Department of General Affairs.

According to the Central Weather Bureau, land and sea warnings for Tropical Storm Nesat will be issued by Friday, with the worst of the weather expected to impact Taiwan on Saturday and Sunday.

Other activities in the area scheduled for the weekend will also be postponed, with new times to be announced at a later date, said Huang.

Outdoor events impacted by the cancellation include the Indigenous People Day Memorial Concert, a play by Our Theater, one day of performances at the ongoing Hsinchu Chinese Music Festival and screenings of Finding Dory and Trolls for children.

The city government issued a news release on the postponement of the events on its website.
