Taipei, July 28 (CNA) An exhibition of the photography of acclaimed Taiwanese aerial filmmaker Chi Po-lin , who died in a helicopter crash during a shoot last month, opened in Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung on Friday.

The multi-city exhibition, titled "Our Land Your Stories -- In Memory of Chi Po-Lin", includes 30 collections that were carefully handpicked from Chi's collection of approximately 300,000 photos and give visitors a view of Taiwan through the filmmaker's eyes.

One day before the opening of the Kaohsiung exhibition at Pier-2 Art Center, city Mayor Chen Chu said she was grateful to the late filmmaker for his work that allowed the public to see Taiwan through the lens of his camera.

In a Facebook post on Friday, Chen said that she once flew over Kaohsiung with Chi in a helicopter to attend the 2013 premiere of his documentary "Taiwan from Above" and saw firsthand his love for and dedication to Taiwan.

The exhibition will run until Aug. 13 in Kaohsiung and at Asia University in Taichung but will end Aug. 6 in Taipei, where it is being held at the Eslite Xinyi Store.

Meanwhile, Kaohsiung City government's Bureau of Cultural Affairs said it has acquired broadcast rights for Chi's documentary, "Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above," which will be used as a teaching resource in its elementary and junior high schools.

Chi died at the age of 52 in a helicopter crash on June 10 while he was shooting aerial images of Taiwan.
