Taipei, July 31 (CNA) The three-day 2017 Ho-Hai-Yan Gongliao Rock Festival in New Taipei which was postponed from its original date of July 28 as a result of Typhoon Nesat will now start on Aug. 4, announced New Taipei City Government in a press release on Monday.
The original performance program scheduled for July 28 to 30 will be revised, but the festival will be every bit as exciting as initially planned, said New Taipei City Tourism and Travel Department in the statement.
Organizers urged attendees to make use of public transport, including trains and shuttle buses from local parking lots to reach the venue.
More information about train schedules can be found on the Taiwan Railway Administration website for revised timetables due to the festival.
On the first day (Aug. 4), The Roadside Inn, winners of last year's Ho-Hai-Yan Indie Music Awards, will open the event. They will be followed by the scheduled "music battle" event as bands, two at a time, take to the left and right stages to play songs from the same musical genre.
Two of the musical styles to be included will be Ska rock and Taike rock.
On the second day (Aug.5), 10 bands from Taiwan will compete in the annual Ho-Hai-Yan Indie Music Awards competition.
Sadog will replace The City Rain Man, one of the original bands which has been forced to pull out because a band member has military service on the rescheduled dates.
On the last day (Aug. 6), commercial bands join the lineup with performances by Hong Kong rock band, GDJYB, and DJ Mykal.
Hip Hop supergroup G.U.T.S will headline the event on the last day along with popular ballad singer Cheer Chen Chi-chen.
The Ho-Hai-Yan Gongliao Rock Festival is an annual music festival held on Fulong Beach, New Taipei City.
The festival which is now in its 17th year is famous for the Ho-Hai-Yan Indie Music Awards competition and commercial bands performing in the music lineup.
