While attending the Asia Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce (ASTCC) annual meeting, Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) Minister Wu Hsin-hsing visited Victor Taichung Machinery Works Co., Ltd, a company with over 60 years of history, on the morning of July 18, and was received by company vice-president Sam Hsu. Hsu said that Victor has operations in the US, UK, France, Germany, South Africa, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia and is one of the leading companies in Taiwan’s precision machinery industry. In support of the government’s 5 +2 Industrial Innovation Plan, Victor has obtained land for a factory in the Taichung City Precision Machinery Technology Park and has the aim of becoming an Industry 4.0 demonstration factory. He estimated that the new one will be completed and operating in the second half of next year and will have output value of NT$6 billion.

In the afternoon, Wu proceeded to Marwi Taiwan Industrial Co. Ltd in Taichung City’s Dajia District., where he was accompanied on a factory tour by President & C.E.O. Patrick Pai. Marwi has been established for 33 years and has service operations in Indonesia, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. Its main products are bicycle seats and pedals and it is the third-ranking bicycle component and parts manufacturer in the world for market share and No. 1 in Europe. Being an important role model of Industry 4.0 and precision machinery industry, the company has adopted automatic processes which combine smart manufacturing, cloud technology, big data and Internet of Things technology. Marwi also plans to invest in Paraguay by setting up a factory.

Wu stated that the DPP government is actively promoting the 5+2 Industrial Innovation Plan, including smart machinery. Taichung is Taiwan’s most important machinery production base and renowned worldwide, explaining why he arranged visits to two of the most outstanding companies in the local precision machinery industry. He affirmed Victor and Marwi for their achievements in the area of Industry 4.0 production and said that, in the future, the OCAC will organize compatriot groups to visit them to increase exchanges between operators from Taiwan and overseas, facilitating business cooperation.
