Taiwan legislators meet with U.S. congressman in California

Taipei, Aug. 1 (CNA) A delegation from Taiwan's Legislative Yuan met with U.S. Representative Ed Royce, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, in California on Monday to exchange views on a wide range of issues.

The delegation, consisting of members of the Legislature's Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee, discussed arms sales to Taiwan and Taiwan's participation in international organizations during the one-hour meeting with Royce in Los Angeles.

They also touched on measures to rescue Taiwanese human rights activist Lee Ming-che, who has been detained by China since March 19, U.S. President Donald Trump's Taiwan policy, the situation in Asia, and cyberattacks, according to a post on Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Wang Ding-yu's Facebook page.

Other members of the delegation include DPP lawmakers Tsai Shih-ying, Wu Kuen-yuh and Lu Sun-ling and opposition Kuomintang lawmakers Hsu Yu-jen and Lu Yu-ling.

The delegation will also visit Luke Air Force Base in Arizona and the U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM) in Hawaii on its trip to the U.S.
