Taipei, Aug. 1 (CNA) A local branch of the Workforce Development Agency in Taoyuan City held a press conference on Monday where officials promoted a program that seeks to provide young job seekers with the information they need to find a job. The activity is organized in the form of an adventure game in a labyrinth with five stages.

Nearly 60 percent of young workers aged 15-29 have difficulty finding work and because they lack experience and have difficulties deciding which jobs are suitable, said Ting Yu-chen, director of the agency's Taoyuan-Hsinchu-Miaoli Regional Branch, citing the findings of a Ministry of Labor survey.

At the press conference Ting dressed as a detective and guided four "players" through the activity which involves completing five tasks representing career aptitude tests, job training programs, career counseling and business startup assistance, leading to a promising future.

The survey released in March also indicated that people aged 15-29 spend an average of two months looking for their first full-time job, said Ting. The survey showed that 54 percent of new entrants onto the labor market prepared before looking for their first job, including finding part-time work, obtaining professional certification and analyzing their professional strengths and weaknesses, accounting for 28.6, 25.2 and 21.3 percent respectively.

The local branch provides one-on-one job seeking counseling with the Zhubei office offering job seeking aids and other services.

Ting urged people looking for a new job to make the most of the services provided by the government because the better job seekers are prepared, the better their chance of finding work.
