Taipei, Aug. 3 (CNA) Paraguayan students studying in Taiwan will stage a music and dance performance at the Presidential Office Saturday to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, according to a post on the Presidential Office spokesman's Facebook page.
The Presidential Office is open once a month for performing arts groups to strut their stuff. This month, the Paraguayan students have been invited to perform on the open day.
Among the performers is Marcelo Gomez Schupp, a student at the National Taiwan University's Department of Mechanical Engineering who came to Taiwan two years ago. Schupp began taking singing lessons when he was 7 years old and has performed in Taiwan, the United States, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, the Netherlands, Italy, Argentina and Paraguay, according to the Presidential Office.
Another performer is Viviana Ortega Rodriguez, who studies in the National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism. Rodriguez began dancing at 5 years old and graduated in dance in 2014. She has performed in several nations, including Taiwan, Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivia and Argentina.
Fernando Sanchez and Carlos Espinola Rotela, who both study in Fo Guang University and who also began learning music in childhood also have experience in overseas performances, according to the Presidential Office.
Paraguay, which established diplomatic ties with the Republic of China on July 8, 1957 is one of Taiwan's 20 diplomatic allies.
