Traffic controls for Universiade being tested in Taipei Saturday

Taipei, Aug. 5 (CNA) Traffic control measures will be implemented on roads surrounding Taipei Stadium on Saturday, as part of the city's preparations for the opening ceremony of the 2017 Summer Universiade to be held on Aug. 19, according to the city government.

Traffic control measures will be put in place for Dunhua North Road, Dunhua South Road, Nanjing East Road, Beining Road and Bade Road from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and a series of system tests will begin at Taipei Stadium at 5 p.m., the city government said.

During the period, the two outer lanes on the northbound section of Dunhua North Road between Bade Road and Nanjing East Road will be closed, said Yang Chin-ting, an official with the city's Department of Transportation.

Cars and scooters will be prohibited from using the two outer lanes on the northbound section of Dunhua South Road between Civic Boulevard and Bade Road, Yang said.

The same control measures will be implemented on the outside lane of the eastbound section of Nanjing East Road between Dunhua North Road and Beining Road and the outside lane of the westbound section of Bade Road between Beining Road and Dunhua North Road, the city government said.

Meanwhile, cars will not be allowed to be parked on the western side of Beining Road, it added.

The city also said that public buses will not stop at the stop near Taipei Stadium from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
