Taipei, Aug. 7 (CNA) Legislative Yuan Speaker Su Jia-chyuan will lead a delegation of lawmakers to Japan in September to attend the annual meeting of the Asian-Pacific Parliamentarians' Union (APPU) and promote parliamentary diplomacy.
The delegation will visit Japan from Sept. 17 to 20 to take part in the APPU meeting in Kyushu before the next legislative session starts on Sept. 22, a legislative source said.
The delegation will consist of seven legislators from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party, four from the opposition Kuomintang, two from the New Power Party and one from the People First Party.
The Tokyo-headquartered APPU was established in 1965 as an exchange platform for the legislative bodies of its five founding members -- Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea and Thailand. It now has 21 member nations.
