Taipei, Aug. 8 (CNA) The Ministry of Education launched a Fun Taiwan-style Mandarin learning program on Tuesday, inviting overseas residents to learn about and experience Taiwan through a combination of language learning and tours around the island-country.

The "Mandarin On-the-Go in Taiwan" program was introduced at a press conference held at Taipei's Huashan Creative Park, as part of activities to welcome the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei from Aug. 19-30.

The program is made of four "learning Mandarin" travel packages to Taipei, Changhua County, Kaohsiung or Hualien County, according to the ministry.

It hopes the new Mandarin program will maximize the impact of Chinese language learning through attractive and cultural tours and encourage those interested in visiting Taiwan to immerse themselves in local culture, the ministry said.

The four "Mandarin On-the-Go in Taiwan" language learning and tour packages will be available from Sept. 1 and run through July 31, 2018. They include "Enjoying Lifestyle in Taipei," "Hualien Mini Trip," "Traveling Changhua-Lukang Township," and "Let's Fun Kaohsiung" packages.

Details of the program are available on the official Ministry of Education website at www.mgt.org.tw, where those interested can also sign up for one of the packages.
