Taipei, Aug. 12 (CNA) Taiwan's Lu Yen-hsun won his second ATP Challenger event in two weeks and the 29th title of his career on Saturday when he topped Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania in straight sets.
Lu, who turns 34 on Aug. 14, gave himself an early birthday gift by upending Berankis 6-3, 6-1 in a match that lasted around an hour to win the US$150,000 tournament in Jinan, China.
The two players had faced each other once in the past, in an ATP Tour event in Washington, D.C., in 2015, with Berankis winning the match 7-6 (1), 6-3 against Lu.
The Taiwanese veteran, who was the top seed in Jinan, lost only one set all week, to third-seeded Go Soeda of Japan, in a tough semifinal match.
The victory follows Lu's title in the US$125,000 Challenger in Chengdu last week when he beat Evgeny Donskoy of Russia on Aug. 6.
