Taipei, Aug. 13 (CNA) Traffic controls around Xinzhuang Sports Park in New Taipei, the home of several venues for competitions to be held in the 2017 Summer Universiade, started Sunday and will last until Aug. 30.
All areas for temporary parking around the sports park will be subject to safety inspections, said Chiang Wei-min, deputy head of the New Taipei Education Department.
The city government will make available 130 free-of-charge parking spaces at nearby Xintai Junior High School and Zhonggang Elementary School from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. between Aug. 18 and Aug. 29, Chiang added.
While the Summer Universiade is being held from Aug 18 to 29, all courts, fields and facilities in the park will be closed to the public, the city said, suggesting that people instead take advantage of playgrounds at junior high and elementary schools near the area.
New Taipei houses the Taipei 2017 Universiade Athletes' Village and seven sports venues, including four in the sports park.
