Taipei, Aug. 16 (CNA) A set of commemorative stamps issued to celebrate the Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade officially hit the market on Wednesday, Chunghwa Post Co. Ltd. said.

The set of eight stamps featuring the event mascot "Bravo" taking part in various sports -- four denominated at NT$5 (US$0.16) and four at NT$15 -- as well as a miniature sheet with a face value of NT$25, are available at post offices around Taiwan, the company said.

A unique feature of the stamps is that they come in the shape of a parallelogram, with a tiny torch hidden in the perforation, according to the company.

Su Li-chiung, CEO of the organizing committee for the Taipei Universiade, said at a ceremony to mark the issue of the stamps that they and the commemorative postmark are unique to the Universiade. She also called on the public to buy the stamps as collectibles and to show support for the event.

Members of the public are encouraged to visit post offices around the country where they can ask to have objects stamped with the official logo of the Universiade free of charge from Wednesday.

The Taipei Universiade will run from Aug. 19-30.
