Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) Minister Wu Hsin-hsing, accompanied by Wang Shu-hua, Director General of the OCAC Department of Business Affairs, hosted the presentation of the 2017 Training Program for Taiwanese Creative Cuisine held at Shih Chien University. Nearly 50 trainees from 27 regions in 17 countries returned to Taiwan to take part in the program. Wu expressed the hope that the trainees will be able to combine their hobbies and career aspirations and, through receiving professional training, create one tasty dish after another.
Wu said that cuisine not only satisfies the desire for good food, but also reflects art and culture. He encouraged every batch of trainees to raise the quality of Chinese food businesses in their place of residence when they return home and promote Taiwanese cuisine to the world.
He also stated that every compatriot is a precious national asset and an extension of our national strength. He thanked compatriots for playing the role of civil ambassadors, letting the world see Taiwan’s substantial soft power and helping it make more friends worldwide.
President of Shih Chien University J. K. Chen thanked the OCAC for its many years of organizing training activities in Taiwan for returning compatriots. He hopes, through industry-government-academia cooperation, to give compatriots around the world the best service, not only bringing people together, but also letting Taiwanese cuisine/gourmet spread overseas.
