Taipei, Aug. 22 (CNA) Taiwan's baseball team trounced the Czech Republic 11-0 in a 7-inning called game at the Taipei Universiade Tuesday and will take on South Korea the following day in a decider to see who advances to the next round.
Taiwan suffered an unexpected loss to France 3-4 in the opening game on Sunday, while South Korea was defeated by the Czech Republic 3-4.
South Korea blanked France 12-0 in another game played Tuesday.
A total of eight countries are participating in the baseball competition which is divided into two groups of four teams in the round-robin preliminary round. The two best teams from each group advance to the next round.
Taiwan, South Korea, France and the Czech Republic are in group A, while group B is comprised of the United States, Japan, Mexico and Russia.
In group B, the U.S. trounced Russia 13-3 in a 7-inning called game and Japan defeated Mexico 7-2, both winners gaining access to the next round.
On Sunday, Japan beat Russia 19-0 in just 5 innings while the U.S. conquered Mexico 3-2.
