Taipei, Aug. 24 (CNA) Taiwan finished second in the women's recurve individual archery event at the Taipei Universiade on Thursday to win a silver medal, while South Korea won gold.
Taiwanese archer Tan Ya-ting faced off against South Korean Kang Chae-young after defeating competitors from Ukraine, Italy, and Taiwan over five days of archery competitions.
At the end of five sets in which the two archers scored almost the same points, Tan lost to Kang 3-7.
With Kang's win, South Korea became the archery champions at the 2017 Universiade, taking 9 of the 10 gold medals in the sport.
In the taekwondo events, meanwhile, Taiwan's Yang Tsung-yeh won a bronze medal in the 74 kg category, after losing to American Jaysen Scott Ishida 6-12 in the semifinals.
It was Taiwan's third taekwondo medal at the games, after Chuang Chia-chia grabbed silver in the women's 67 kg category and Liu Wei-ting took a bronze medal in the 80 kg event Wednesday.
