Taipei, Aug. 27 (CNA) Taiwanese athlete Chen Kui-ru won a silver medal after finishing the men's 110-meter hurdles at the Taipei Universiade on Sunday with a time of 13.55 seconds.
Chen also broke Taiwan's national record of 13.57 seconds set by Yang Wei-ting in May at this year's National Intercollegiate Athletic Games.
Hungarian Baji Balazs clocked 13.35 second to grab the gold in the event, while Damian Czykier of Poland took bronze with a time of 13.56 seconds.
Chen said after the competition he was elated at learning that he broke the national record.
Chen's silver marked the seventh medal Taiwan has won in the track and field events at the Taipei Universiade, including 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.
