Taipei, Aug. 29 (CNA) Taiwanese athletes who compete at the Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade will parade through Taipei Thursday afternoon to celebrate the country's victories in this year's games.

During a press conference Tuesday for the event, dubbed "Taiwan's Heroes Parade," Chinese Taipei University Sports Federation Vice President Lee Hou-ching explained that the country's athletes will make their way in Jeeps and buses around Taipei Main Station and through the city's East and Xinyi districts before arriving at the plaza in front of Taipei City Hall.

The two-hour event will start in front of the Presidential Office on Ketagalan Boulevard at 4 p.m. and will serve as a party for the atheletes, as well as a meet-and-greet with their fans, he added.

Director-General of the Ministry of Education's Sports Administration Lin De-fu noted that most of the country's competitors, especially the ones who won gold medals and broke records, will be present, and encouraged the public to come out and cheer on the athletes as they make their way through the city.
