Taipei, Aug. 29 (CNA) A delegation of French senators arrived in Taiwan Tuesday to learn more about the development of Taiwan's economic sector and boost bilateral cooperation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) stated in a press release.
The eight-member delegation, led by Senator Cyril Pellevat, will visit Vice President Chen Chien-jen and Deputy Legislative Speaker Tsai Chi-chang, as well as tour the ministries of Economic Affairs, Culture, and Science and Technology during their four-day visit.
The delegation arrives at a time when France-Taiwan collaboration is extensive in the fields of commerce, technology, culture and air transportation, the MOFA noted.
France is currently Taiwan's fourth-largest trade partner in Europe and one of its largest technology partners in the world.
This marks the first visit to Taiwan for seven of the eight senators: Cedric Perrin, Jean-Francois Rapin, Francois Bonhomme, Mathieu Darnaud, Claude Kern, Nicole Duranton and Philippe Mouiller.
