Taipei, Aug. 29 (CNA) Tennis events at the 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade ended Tuesday with host team Taiwan emerging as the top winner, earning a total of seven medals -- four golds, one silver and two bronzes.
Taiwan's eight-strong team, made up of four men and four women, carded a gold medal in the women's doubles, gold in the men's singles, silver in the women's singles, and two bronzes in the women's singles and mixed doubles.
Along with those medals, the team won two more golds in the women's and men's team events, based on the Universiade's score calculation system, under which a gold medal represents 60 points, a silver symbolizes 40 points and a bronze marks 20 points.
It marks the best performance Taiwan has ever achieved in Universiade tennis.
In the men's team-classification, Japan came in second place and Russia third, while Thailand was placed second and Japan third in the women's team-classification.
In terms of tennis medal count, Thailand is ranked behind Taiwan with four medals (one gold, two silvers and one bronze), followed by Japan with five medals (one gold, one silver and three bronzes).
