Taipei, Aug. 29 (CNA) Kinmen Magistrate Chen Fu-hai directed the county's law enforcement authorities Tuesday to step up security preparedness during the upcoming 2017 BRICS Summit in the neighboring Chinese city of Xiamen.

The summit, slated for Sept. 3-5, will bring together the heads of state or heads of government of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

Issuing the directive in a meeting with security-related agencies, Chen said Kinmen should be on alert and learn a lesson from the disorder caused by anti-government protesters during the Aug. 19 opening ceremony of the 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade.

The magistrate also expressed concern over the potential threat posed by Chinese camera drones to Kinmen's security, and he instructed related agencies to identify locations closest to Xiamen that are likely to be encroached upon by such drones.
