Singapore, Sept. 4 (CNA) A group of youth ambassadors, sponsored by Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), traveled to Singapore on Monday to promote public diplomacy through community service and other activities.

On arrival in Singapore, the group of 25 youth ambassadors was received by Francis Liang, Taiwan's representative to the Southeast Asian City-State.

At the reception, Liang said the 2017 International Youth Ambassador Exchange Program incorporates the spirit of the Taiwan government's New Southbound Policy, giving young people a chance to visit Southeast Asian and South Asian countries and widen their global perspective.

According to Victor Chin, the head of MOFA's youth ambassador program, the four pillars of the program are experiential learning, community service, official visits, and cultural diplomacy.

In addition to making official visits and engaging in volunteer community work, the group in Singapore will host a "Taiwan Night" cultural event.
